WELCOME!
Animasia is a roleplaying forum where players can portray their favorite cartoon characters from any number of canons, especially television and film. Our wonderful staff is always willing to lend you helping hand, so don’t be afraid to ask us anything! We don’t bite (much).
Out of the blue, animated characters are finding themselves being whisked away from their home universes after the conclusion of their respective stories to Animasia, a realm of infinite adventure, mystery, and wonder! However, behind its' beauty and welcoming atmosphere lurks danger... With things no longer being influenced by the writers’ pens, anything can happen to our favorite characters now!
Will you be one of the heroes who stand against the forces of evil and defend the defenseless? Or a villain, plotting to avenge yourself on your old foes, or eying a bigger prize, the domination of this new world? Or maybe someone who's in-between or wants to play both sides? It's all up to you.

Registering
1.) The characters you choose to play can be from any CGI, stop-motion, or 2-D animated short, film/or television series, including anime and western animation: if it’s a cartoon, it’s allowed! We will also accept characters from video game animations, provided that the game itself isn't M-rated. We only accept canon characters.
+ Characters from certain shows and movies are not allowed here; we have compiled a list of them, and you should carefully read it over before choosing a character to apply for.
+We will not accept characters from cartoons only featured on the Internet.
2.) You should register with the name of the character that you wish to play. If you get multiple characters, then they should all be on separate accounts in order to avoid confusion (also see Rule #3). Be careful not to choose a character that’s already taken!
3.) Currently, you are allowed to have up to six characters to play. Please do not pick three characters from the same show; we want the characters here to be diverse as possible. On this note, we also encourage you to try and pick characters from different mediums (anime, stop-motion, etc.) if you can.
+ You must have a total of fifteen in-character posts before you can apply for a second character, ten in-character posts before you can apply for a third, and five before you can apply for a fourth one.
+Regarding characters that are never seen apart (twins, etc.), like the Warner siblings or Pinky and the Brain, it's up to you how you want to handle that situation. If you wish, then you may pick one of them to play, and just NPC the other character(s) until someone else comes along and applies for them. If no one does after a while though, then you can apply for them. This goes for characters with pets as well, like He-Man and Battlecat.
4.) While we won’t freak out over the occasional misspelling or such, as everyone makes mistakes, we’re afraid that we cannot accept someone with continually bad grammar and spelling (it's hard to roleplay with someone you can't understand). If these things are not your strong suit and you wish to join, then you should brush up on them before doing so. We have no problems accepting beginners who want to polish their writing skills (which we have no problem aiding you with). If you have to, write your posts in Microsoft Word first before posting it in order to catch any errors.
5.) There isn't much of a time limit on how long you can work on your application (we know that other things can suddenly come up and people have lives outside the Internet). As long as we can tell you're working on it, then you're good. Talk with us beforehand and let us know that it might take you a while to finish it. Applications that appear to have been ignored and whose writers we cannot get in touch with will be put in the Application Archive after two months. You're more then welcome to try applying again though.
6.) If you register for a character, then make sure it's a character that you, y'know, at least kinda like and are interested in. You cannot suddenly swap out for another character if you become bored or something with the one you already have.
7.) If your application has been denied, DO NOT go into the Denied Application section and edit it!
8.) Do not post in the interactive roleplaying area until your application has been approved.
Roleplaying
1.) Don’t godmod (control other peoples' characters) or anything like that. For example, if you get into a fight with another character and your character strikes them, don’t have the other character fall on their backside. It’s up to their player what happens to them.
2.) This RP is rated PG. Light rough language is allowed, but the worst you can say is “hell”. There can be some violence, but do not go overboard with this. We don’t want to see lovingly crafted, overly-detailed posts about your character murdering someone. There will also be NO vulgarity of any sort (bathroom humor, etc.) or graphic sexual content allowed. If your thread is going to have some edgy elements in it, then please appropriately label it with a warning.
3.) Non-anthro animal characters who have human voice actors (IE: Balto, Simba, etc.) can communicate with humans, but those that are limited to making animal sounds, such as Spirit the horse or Snoopy, cannot speak to humans. The exception to this rule would be if the character has had a spell placed on them, or if another character has either created some sort of device or has magical powers that allow for interspecies communication.
4.) We'd like to have a good literary base here, and would therefore prefer to see posts that are at least two paragraphs long while being of good quality. While you will certainly not be banned if they're lagging, please try not to make short posts a habit! One and two-liners are definitely a no-no. If you need some help with making your posts longer, then try to describe your character's inner thoughts, their reactions to different things like their environment, the people around them, etc. You may also consider trying to make your post as long as the person's who posted before you, and making your intro posts longer then you would normally make a reply.
5.) Please keep the grudges against anime/Disney/Warner Bros./whatever off the forum. Don’t have your character hating other characters simply because they’re either from a rival animation studio, done in a style of animation that you yourself dislike, or because you personally dislike the character.
6.) Please try not to go overboard with out-of-character (OOC) chatter in in the roleplaying areas. That's why we have a shout box and a forum for discussing plots and such ('The Little Things').
7.) Try to keep up with your posts. If you’re going to be unavailable for awhile, then please let us know if you can. Characters whose players go MIA without a word and remain inactive for a long period of time (longer then three months) will be put back into circulation so that someone else can apply for them.
8.) You may be active in multiple threads. All we ask is that you keep up with all of the threads you're in. We have a subforum, "Plot Lines", where you can catergorize your plots.
Characters
1.) This is a very important rule -- please keep your characters in character! We cannot stress this enough! While it’s understandable that one may not know every single detail about how a character would act in certain situations, and some characters' personality traits may change and further develop over the course of the RP, there are just some things that we all know certain characters would never, EVER do (IE: don’t turn Akane Tendo into some meek yes-man). This also includes making villains "misunderstood and gentle souls" -- please don't. Think about how the character carries themselves and speaks as well -- a character like Sailor Moon isn’t going to say things like “I concur.” If you cannot stay true to your character, then she/he/it will be taken away from you and you may not be allowed to get another one.
+Put some thought and creativity into your applications! We really want to see in-depth and interesting descriptions of what they look like, how they behave, their pasts, how they fight, the things they like, etc.
2.) No overpowered/or perfect characters please. This is exactly why the “Weaknesses” section was included on the character profile sheet. Give your characters real, solid weaknesses, not junk like “S/he cares too much about their friends.”
3.) Regarding different versions of the same character, I’m afraid that’s kind of a “first come, first serve” deal. We cannot have, say, the “Sonic X” Sonic and the “SatAM” version of Sonic being played at the same time, as that would get rather confusing. However, if one application is better written then the other and we feel that the writer has a better grasp on the character, then those things will be major deciding factors in choosing which to approve. If someone does manage to successfully apply for one version of a particular character, then you’ll just have to choose another character. However, if you want to have Cosmo and someone else wants to play Princess Sally, then something like that is acceptable.
4.) Please differentiate between yourself and your character. Just because another character may hate your's doesn’t mean that their player actually feels that way about you.
General
1.) No spamming.
2.) Please, just use common sense. If you’re not sure about something, then just ask us. We’ll be happy to clear it up for you!
3.) If you get into a disagreement with another player, or even a staff member, then inform either the other mods or myself and we will try to settle it.
+On a similar note, keep drama off the boards please.
4.) Please be respectful towards others: rudeness, refusing to respect others' opinions, and a bad attitude are looked down on here! Basically, treat people the way you would want to be treated.
+Continuing to be a drama llama or a jerk even after being warned are grounds for being banned. We don't like to ban folks, but we neither need nor want troublemakers around.
5.) A continuation of the above: failure to observe the rules and committing serious infractions will result in your being warned a total of three times before your characters will finally be taken from you and you're banned.
6.) Your avatars should be no larger then 200x400 and your signatures 500x2050.
7.) Please do not register here just to chat on the OOC forums. This is a roleplaying forum, so we'd love to see some actual roleplaying from our members!
8.) I would really prefer if people steered away from topics like politics, race, and religion. They tend to turn pretty ugly pretty quickly, and I want this place to have a fun, laidback atmosphere.
9.) Have fun!
Again, reading the rules is mandatory, and we will be able to tell whether or not you've actually read them.
